DIY: Gel Stain Cabinets

I recently bought a house, and the first thing I wanted to do was some minor updating. The bathroom cabinets were one of the few items I definitely wanted to update. Thanks to Pinterest (totally addicted), I found a quick, simple, and cheap way to update it! Total cost of the update: $25! :) The gel stain was $20, and the paint brush I used was only $2! But you still have to factor in some newspapers (I used old ones that I had handy) and some painter's tape. I couponed (using their 50% coupon) the painter's tape from JoAnn Fabrics for about $3!

Materials:

1- General Finishes Gel Stain (I recommend only this brand for a gel stain), in the color Java.
1- Paint brush
1- Painter's Tape
Newspapers

What I did:
First I prepped the cabinets by wiping it down clean, then I used the newspapers and painter's tape to seal everything off.

I then, basically just took the brush and started painting! This is a gel stain, so there's really no particular or right way to do it. I did it in vertical motions, just because I'm a little particular. I had to go back and do two coats in order to get that rich dark-brown-black tone.

Below are the pictures of what I did- almost step by step. This is a cheap and easy way to update your bathroom! It only took me 2 hours! Good luck to those of you who will be doing this as well! And leave me some feedback if you did and see how yours turned out. Thank you!
